The 24th meeting of the GST council has decided as follows:
a) Nation wise e-way bill system will be rolled out on a trial basis latest by 16th of January 2018. The e-way bill shall be generated on a trial basis.
b) For Inter State movement of goods rules shall be notified with effect from 1st of February 2018.
c) For Intra State movement of goods, the states may take a call to adopt either the national system or their own system at any time till 1st of June 2018.
However, w.e.f 1st June 2018 the national e-way bill system will be implemented across the country for both inter state and intra state movement of goods.
