The meeting of the GST council on June 3rd was expected to be the last before the 1st July rollout. However there is one more meeting on 11th June 2017, wherein the rates for a few more items will be discussed and finishing touches shall be given to accounting and electronic way bills given.
The GST council may also revisit some of the rates that have been announced in the previous two meetings.
With so many rates and ambiguities, it seems GST will retain some of the complexities that are present today in the laws that will get subsumed.
Critics of this Government will also blame its haste in pushing GST, especially when the industry, the bank associations and many small and medium traders are saying they are not yet ready for GST implementation on 1.7.2017 and are seeking a 2 month extension.
